I never eat as much zarusoba as I want to. We have sushi everywhere, but things like zarusoba, oden, and other Japanese staples just don't seem to get picked up by the various restaurants in the area -- probably a function of most of them not being owned and run by Japanese people to begin with. It has been a good motivator in learning my way around the Japanese pantry though, particularly with the help of https://www.justonecookbook.com . Amusingly though things like zarusoba, despite being so simple, end up being the ones I make the least, because it just feels like so much attention (to avoid a sticky mess of buckwheat) for such a small but delightful snack.
