In the past, as long as Our Hero could sleep his mandatory 8 hours, he could sleep in any place. In a crowded bus, in a bench at the park, in a luxury room at a 7 star hotel (don't ask), etc. Now he only can sleep, comfortably, in his bed at the Old Hag's house. Why? Not even he knows.
