Most places accept scanned an e-mailed documents, and for those that don't, like maybe law firms and the courts and stuff, the information is so sensitive you wouldn't trust the post office with it anyway; you'd drive it there yourself or, if that wasn't practical/possible, you'd use a private courier company.
