What far too many women fail to realize is that an abuser isn't abusive because of his victim. Abuse doesn't happen because of something the victim did. Abusers are abusive because that's who they are. It's not a response to their partner; it's a reflection of the monsters that they are.

And most women who proudly proclaim that their man is "one of the good ones" are often operating under this exact subconscious belief. They think abuse is something that happens to those women, the ones who "failed" in choosing their partner, seeing the red flags, or leaving. It's just victim blaming all over again.

Women do not owe anyone these comfortable lies.
