After a month of at-home hospice care, mom died earlier today. Dad has been heroic in the last weeks just plain being present. They even watched a little football together last night.

The hospice staff has been amazing; the at-home nursing visits have been loving and supportive. That whole regimen of human-centered care was what she needed these final weeks.

Pictures, cards, and letters were the best form of love; she knew from shared stories how much she mattered.
