FYI, I remember being in second grade in our small farm town school in Southwest Texas ... grades 1 through 12 but only about 50 students total... we all stood outside while they replaced the old flag with the new one with 50 stars. I think we said the pledge, too, but only recall the visual of the flag on the pole.
