A year ago was diagnosed with a mild and treatment amenable thyroid condition now in remission that may have been with me these 20+ years in a smouldering state. Still not 100% right but no clear reason for the sudden symptoms last year. My mom had thyroid problems all her adult life including failed diagnoses and treatments on more than one occasion including her last (RIP). She was also cold from an even earlier age, pre-teen even.
In Finland thyroid related issues are more common than most places for no clear reasons. In my case it is not likely to be the direct environment as I spent 40 years out of Finland so heritability is a option. Both parents were from Finland and there may be a common gene that is bent but not broken in many Finns.
