Listen, Tolstoy has some great things to say and he’s pretty cool with his rejection of societal norms and the aristocracy. However he also believed in chastity and abstinence and pretty much drove his poor wife insane. Soooooo. . .
Seriously though conflict is most poignant when you can see both sides and feel torn. Good vs good or good vs an idealistic villain is very compelling.
