Well, I think randomness may very well be useful, but not as a complete alternative for voting:
1) voting allows to at least exclude those who definitely should not be elected. As far as I understand, juries are pre-selected initially to not include, say, criminals. Also, there are “votings” to exclude specific members
2) juries are good at executing one specific task with determined conditions. President is expected to be effective for unlimited amount of unknown tasks though
