Definitely ground out the lead going to the side of the CRT.
But I never worked on one. I've had them, but never opened one up.
I actually almost got (what would have been) an amazing job decades ago at a computer repair shop at the university, but I saw a big monitor *ON* with no cover, and I yeeted out of there. XD
