People who don't know you as a man of intelligence and compassion make a judgement that they are not qualified to make. Somewhere along the way we've decided that every thought or action has to be judged as to whether each action or comment is anti societal by people who have no skin in the game. Every father worth his salt has had to have that conversation with his son at one time or another. It's part of a boy becoming a man.
