Hi. Regarding point 2, I've just reverted a feature that converted text between under simple underscores to italics because it was causing more trouble that it's worth (not just in hashtags, but in URLs and account names).
Regarding 1), I know about this and I agree it's annoying. I'll work on it eventually.
