Wishing you the best as you embark on your medicinal and culinary herb growing endeavours. I found it to be a rewarding learning venture and one that my wife Deb and I benefited from greatly as we used many of the herbs.

My wife and I had a 5.4 acre farm in Oregon (also zones 8-9) and we had a LARGE medicinal and culinary herb garden. One key was to really prepare the soil ahead of time and fertilize it well and water the growing herbs well. We had great success growing the following:

### Medicinal Herbs:

- Echinacea
- Elecampane
- Hops
- Motherwort
- Anise hysop
- Lemon Balm
- Peppermint & Spearmint
- Chamomile
- Tulsi "Holy" Basil
- Sage
- Lavender
- St. John's Wort
- Valerian
- Bee Balm
- Elderberry
- Blue Vervain
- Yarrow
- Comfrey
- Calendula
- Hawthorn
- Valerian
- Lemon Verbena

### Culinary Herbs:

- Thyme
- Rosemary
- Fennel
- Oregano
- Lemon grass
- Parsley
- Garlic

We had great success with these herbs. Most were grown during my time in the Fellowship and I was experimenting as I was learning about the herbs and was so excited to try my hand at this. Deb and I got many of our "start ups" from Strictly Medicinal and I highly recommend them. We also grew Holy Basil from seed and that did NOT go well for some reason...probably user error...:-)

We made out own teas, tinctures, infused vinegars, and syrups. It was very enjoyable.

Hope all goes well.
