one way of viewing #adhd is that about 4 percent of the population has a genetic mutation that gets labelled as "ADHD" when it's maladaptive and "eccentric" when it's adaptive. in certain environments, people with ADHD can thrive, but the world generally isn't set up that way.
and yes, it's genetic, because the heritability has found to be 80%, which is very unusual. it can pass in families for generations.
