Youngsters are spritzing themselves with pheromones, (chemicals used in the animal kingdom to attract a mate) to boost love lives, says The Times. Scent shop Parfumery claims its pheromone cologne triggers emotions of “pure instinct, lust and sexual attraction”; the Notino website says its PheroStrong massage oil will “make you irresistible to the opposite sex”. Scientists say it’s balls: we do have the organ in our nose some animals use to detect pheromones, but it’s not active.
