I'm using the emacs modules `epa-file` and `pinentry` which works great together with GPG for storing stuff in strongly encryptet files. It even optionally integrates with using the native keystores in the OS (at least on Macs). But yeah, doesn't support signing etc, which is what I suspect this is about.
