Yeah, the reason it wouldn't work is that the global feed is pretty much the only time anyone would ask ski.fan about event #1. I mean, it would work for that, but not for resolving any reference, at least without the relay getting really smart.
I do think an indexer would work to solve this, and making indexing/recommendations a standard extension to relays would be good for maintaining decentralization. I'll see if I can build an indexer for Coracle, then make a NIP.
