Dr. Dan Killam on Nostr: The watering pot shells are some seriously weird clams that build long tube-shaped ...
The watering pot shells are some seriously weird clams that build long tube-shaped crypts for themselves. At the bottom of many species' crypts there are often branching systems of tubes, kind of like the shower end of a watering can. The other end of the tube sticks out of the sediment like a chimney! The clam starts with a more typical two-valved form, with one or both valves becoming embedded in the crypt as it grows. #clamFacts
