SKATE ON THE RIDEAU CANAL ✅
I took myself on a solo roadtrip yesterday to skate 9 km on the world’s largest natural skating rink!
It’s been on my to do list for quite some time. One reason or another prevented me from doing so but I wasn’t going to let the opportunity pass me by this year.
I met people from Quebec, all over Ontario and even someone from Florida who used to live in San Antonio, Texas. We shared stories and some laughs.
The Rideau Canal Skateway is 7.8 km in length. Due to maintenance and the late season, the path was only open to the 4.4 km marker. I skated the entire length and then treated myself on the way back to a skate up BeaverTails where a man insisted on treating me to a warm drink. Then later skated to a vendor with maple taffy on snow. It was so fun!
Normally I would wait to have someone join me on the adventure but at the end of the day it would be me that loses out. Life is too short not to live it to the fullest. It was my first solo trip of this calibre and likely won’t be the last. Where will the next be or entail? I’m not sure but the exciting experience yesterday has me yearning for more!!
