I've been reading a book called The Second Mountain: The Quest for a Moral Life. It argues that most people have two mountains that they climb:
1. An ego mountain where you're worry about proving yourself, making money and gaining the approval of others.
2. A virtue mountain where you become aware of and prioritise the things you truly feel are meaningful.
Between them is a ravine of despair. The second mountain is the new life that you build from the ruins. I'm going through this.
