Human systems are full of counter intuitive outcomes. Intellectual property is one. You would think protecting IP would incentivise creativity and innovation. That is not the outcome. Creators will create no matter the legal framework. IP mostly prevents novel iteration and free market competition. No idea is so unique, so precious, so amazing, that its use deserves legal protection.
