Because Linux can actually be simple, straightforward and just work. Case in point: for a friend of mine I just installed Linux Mint. Followed all default steps, only added codecs. Coming from an older iso it took me 38 minutes all in all, including following all first steps and upgrading to Xia. This on a 2018 pc, with 8Gb and 'normal' internet. Everything you could want is there. It just works. We geeko's like to make things complicated, just because we can, but we don't have to.
