It puzzles me why the word « friend » is so overused in English when it’s such a rare, grand, profound thing to have, to be. I have sisters and brothers that I can count on two hands and the rest are acquaintances that I am grateful for.
If the “friends” you have are only there at parties/bars, you have party/drinking partners, not friends. If they don’t show up at your door the day you let them know you are struggling, those are your fair weather chat pals.
Know your tribe.
Ride or Die or GTFO.
