This notion by Douglas Adams sounds catchy, but this has less to do with technophobia or old age than it has to do with Luddism in it's positive sense.
With age you (should) grow an understanding of the political and social capacity of technology, which might outshine either the bling factor or easy money gig. The fact that things turn alright is to be debated, as time just marches on and their is not double blind trial.
