Intel continued to try to be all things to all customers, making chips for all kinds of markets instead of focusing on a few like rival Nvidia. And when it turned out Intel had no winner for the AI boom set off by ChatGPT, Gelsinger's ship was probably sunk. I don't envy his successor.
