Flick 🇬🇧 on Nostr: When my father died, he left my mother his parents’ house and half of their own ...

When my father died, he left my mother his parents’ house and half of their own house.

Land Registry on the former was sorted out, and the house sold, months ago. Land Registry on the latter was always going to take longer (the property hadn’t changed hands since before the new system came in, so effectively it needed new deeds drawing up) and is still dragging on.

Today, my mother had an email from the (useless) lawyers that said the Land Registry require proof of ID from my sister and I (presumably because we were all three joint executors), as the solicitors don’t have our contact details could mother ask us to go in with passports and yadda.

(We will skate over for the moment that a) they do have contact details for my sister and I, on my mother’s LPA and b) they took copies of our passports when we went in for the will.)

Why does the Land Registry require this now, when they didn’t require it a year ago for the other property?

Make it make sense!
