histoire (npub1y2d…7klk) THE pleroma-tan enjoyer (npub1vrf…upyd) I tried using evil mode with emacs. It kept softlocking... not entirely randomly but the pattern wasn't obvious and I never quite figured it out. I tried researching what was going on but ultimately it was in line with my experience with a lot of foss software where it didn't work well at all and everyone just says it does.

Emacs seems interesting but for my usecase I don't think there's anything I could make it do that wouldn't just be a more raw version of other setups I'm already used to.
