The incident you are referring to involved silent payments. A huge leap forward for bitcoin privacy but unfortunately still has some details to iron out. Otherwise cake is a solid open source self custody wallet.
Actually you have it backwards. Bitcoin appreciates in value far faster than monero which makes it a far better tool to combat debasement of currency over the long run. Monero is actually a lot less volatile than bitcoin and stays fairly flat against the dollar. Again my entire point is they are different tools for different purposes. Save in bitcoin, spend in monero.
Not everyone takes bitcoin. I still can’t spend it directly at the corner store or on Amazon but hopefully that will change in the future. Monero is still the currency of choice on the dark web due to privacy concerns. Who knows if that will change in the future but if privacy isn’t baked in not everyone is going to be interested.
