okay, Lightworks is the first piece of Linux video editing software i've used that's actually capable of smoothly playing back a 2160p60 video.
it required me to install OpenCL drivers and crashed before i did that, but now it seems to work, and it's much faster than anything else i've tried to use.
also, when i enable proxy media, scrubbing the timeline is actually fast, like it's supposed to be when you use that.
everything about this is professional. the FOSS alternatives are pretty weak compared to this.
