Completely ignoring how fucking illegal the whole thing is.
This is a monumental "don't play chess against a pigeon because while you're moving counters they'll shit on the board" levels of stupid.
Fortunately after I responded with a longer version of "well, yes, of course, any idiot would expect that, but if you've got a bunch of ultra-right wing shit flinging gibbons bypassing safety measures, modiying the system and pushing directly to prod then you have more important things to talk about" he dropped the subject. Which is good. Because there's no persuading him and it would have turned into a massive fight. At least he's learned that much. Only took him 60 years or so.
_This_ is a big part of my fucking issues. Internalising the idea that I have to give these positions more than the respect they deserve. Which is none. Right wing propaganda is only concerned with truth as much as it can abuse the opponent's desire to stick to it.
