If the US is to remain a viable democracy, the "states' rights" argument has to be settled once and for all. Where it was once invoked by confederate states over slavery, it's now used by [mostly the same] states to enact draconian anti-women's laws and, in the case of Texas, lethal anti-immigrant laws.
And why does states' rights' always seem to be about taking away human rights?
