This one is interesting... And I do understand bafflement and "not understanding" here.
Admittedly not having any knowledge of facts, numbers and specifics mentioned, I can help demystify the "not understanding":
So... The epic tale of earth starts *way* before... Dino's!
Earth was once completely covered by *giant* forests. Yes, pretty much ocean, beach, desert and forests!
It's believed that the nail in the coffin for this fact was the relatively recent invention of grass.
Uhm... Yes, relevant but a different topic.
So... These forests existed and trees lived and died in them over a *very* long time, this also happened during the Dino's.
Back then the preference was "airy studio apartments's under bridges" so nobody picked up the dead trees...
Yes, some Dino's eat leafs, but very few ate logs... So over eons, with landmass movement, trees got buried and eventually and became coal and other stuff.
Yes, think Wyoming and coal mines.
Thinking is; If we use the logs, as building material, it will eventually end up in the heap and get burnt.
Yes, that is "green energy", problem is, some want to reduce the amount of carbon in the atmosphere. So why don't we reverse the process?
Dig up coal and bury trees, sort of...
However, I admit bafflement, this I cannot explain.
In total ignorance I ask:
How can this be cost-effective?
No lower-hanging fruit?
If we remove timber from the market, dig it down to make unprofitable coal, won't that create a deficit of timber on the market.
Like with Bitcoin, deficit = $moon.
I must assume, erosion due to deforestation is still a problem in the world... but what do I know.
How is it not, that some of that voke carbon capture "abracadabra" is not more cost effective and useful?
Thinking here goes; If we dig up coal, gas oil and stuff, use it for Bitcoin miners and just pump the carbon waste stuff directly back down into the ground,
like where it came from... Would that not be helpful? Like energy but no carbon?
And yes, there's other scientific magic "hand waving" one could do, Yes. that is also a different topic.
