Wow, got a reconditioned Lenovo Thinkpad T490s last Friday and had a) replaced the 256GB NVMe drive (containing an unnecessary, never-booted Windows install) with a spare 1TB I had, and b) installed KDE Neon (a Linux distro based on Ubuntu 22.04, but with Flatpak instead of Snaps & the latest KDE desktop, Plasma 6) running, with a fully encrypted drive, within 15 minutes of receipt, including unpacking. Try that with Windows.
