That was the reason the feature originally existed, but what I found is that it makes forests a lot more brittle — because when you rename something then tons of other sentences elsewhere can easily become ungrammatical.
So I think that good practice when writing prose is to use a spelled-out link like you do now, and wikilinks are most useful when doing things like listing topics or something (for example, I do this in the titles of my journal entries).
