I've only hiked to the summit of Mt. Thoro in Denali National Park once, and it was a totally surreal experience. I've never been anywhere with a landscape quite like this. At times, it felt like we were hiking on Mars. Some persisting snowpack brought some streams to the desolate landscape, where some vegetation could grow. Still, wildflowers found little islands to grow in the rocks. I look forward to the road being open to this area again!
