One possible approach that just occurred to me & I haven’t seen proposed in Parliament or elsewhere; How about a social media equivalent of “dispersion orders”?
I.e. Similar to police powers to designate an area for a limited time, but for platform providers, which would compel them to limit/filter/block certain types of content for a limited period, with the possibility of post-order challenge in court?
