I thought it might be fun to reread Frank Herbert's _Destination: Void_ in light of modern AI (the book is about the crew of a spaceship, and they must create an AI in order to survive).

anyhow the book starts and ends strong, but overall it's just not very good, and it reminded me why I've never much cared for Herbert's work. but anyhow, sort of a fun blast from the past (1960s)
