I think its reasonable to apply what we know from the I33 manuscript on how they used a small buckler to a heater shield, keeping it in front and slicing around the curvature of the shield.

The only difference is that unlike a heater which has a second strap around the forearm, the buckler is held by just the hand so you can more easily “punch” it forward like a boxer. Another thing I noticed training with a heater shield is that using the shoulder strap creates really solid structure and stability but doesn’t allow you to put the shield out far in front of you.
