Dr. Dan Killam on Nostr: Giant clams are sometimes accused of being killers capable of trapping and drowning ...
Giant clams are sometimes accused of being killers capable of trapping and drowning people. They can produce a muscle tension of 10 kg/cm2, similar to an average human bite. However, they do not close quickly, and the largest clams often can't even close completely, so it would be hard to get trapped by one and there's never been a confirmed case, aside from Superman. That being said, you should always be cautious about being entangled by anything underwater! #clamFacts
