Finding that there is a lot of confusion about what making "your own engine" actually means practically for #gamedev developers.
Custom engines don't need to be glorified as this higher or extremely difficult thing. Build the OpenGL/SDL2 ImGui example and I feel like you're 80% of the way there.
The problem is that after "engine" (be it game maker or unity or SDL2 or a TI-83) you still have to make the actual game.
