My own k9 partner is retired now but we still train and maintain our human-certifications (because you need all the human ones AND then you get your canine certified on *top* of those base human ones everyone must have). And, since you never go alone on a search, I now function as support for other K9 teams! Usually we like to have strangers come hide, but sometimes we don't have anyone, and then other teammates will do in a pinch.
