Are there really no games these days where you can just jump in and start playing quickly? Every game wants you to go through a tutorial first, whether it's a racing game, a shooter, or another action game. What happened to the old tradition of just diving in and learning while you play?

I just downloaded a racing game that looked good. I wanted to take a quick spin, and the game stopped every 3 seconds to show a speech bubble explaining the simplest steps. I've played hundreds of racing games in the last 40 years. Let me get a feel for the steering and graphics before you start lecturing me.
