I tried to do the "right thing" when I originally signed up at mas.to. A reliable-looking server, but not piling onto the *one* server everyone else is on.
Then they jumped on the "block everything" bandwagon with Threads (and probably BlueSky for all I know).
So I just rolled my eyes and fired up my own server. So far, I don't regret it.
