This motivation leads us to adopting a scientific system of knowledge built on axioms or the scientific priciples, rather than that the scientific system by itself is neccesarily so appealing or convincing for everyone (though it surely is for a majority) as a common grounds for whatever reason.

This at least seems to me to explain some patterns of behaviour in those many discussions we see in the media usually lead in this political way and rarely enough in presence of people who are scientifically motivatied.
