My gf and I have been dating for 4 years and we love each other dearly. I only flipped out on her once bc she was distracting me in a video game, but it was just silly.
Yeah, like people get mad at me when I say this, *but* most map/aam relationships are not healthy. There is a huge difference between "sexual contact isn't inherently harmful" and "sexual contact is healthy/ethical". When you get into the actual relationship dynamics it becomes even more complex of a question. Most adult/minor social relations have a structural imbalance. A 12 year old will only interact with a handful of adults (teachers/parents/religious figures/etc.) and those adults will have a lot of control over the trajectory of their lives. If you parent tells you to do something, they could be nice about it and not intend for it to be a command, but they provide your means of subsistence and in the back of your head you know it could be removed as punishment.
This carries over into our other interactions. The internet levels this mesh of power in an important way, but ultimately we have been indoctrinated to interact with minors and adults in a certain way. This is just a social reality that cannot be changed in the moment, only vary from culture to culture. It's something that both parties should constantly be aware of if they want to overcome it, but often it is too easy for the map mimic a parental figure and try to gaslight someone because in that moment they feel they have a right to as the "older person".
