Economist Richard Wolff presents his view on the current state of the Empire.
- Russia is the most powerful military nation on earth. Russia has history of fighting large powerful states and winning - America has a history of fighting 'weak' small states and losing.
- China wins in GDP, industrial output, high tech and related
efficiency. Builds cars, trains, etc better and cheaper than USA and exports them globally.
- Indonesia joins the BRICS, making the BRICS an increasingly powerful economic block.
- America has lost it's empire. American rulers and, to a lesser extent, their surfs and slaves, are in denial. All America and its vassal states can do is watch as the rest of the world decides its fate.
Everything Trump or any other president does now is just hand-waving and marginal window dressing. Deporting Mexicans and introducing tariffs is risky as it might deal a major blow to Mexico economically (eg lost remittances) and perhaps create chaos/crime/violence and so animosity towards USA.
Wolff asks - Will the American people allow themselves to be the ones who get screwed as this empire passes? (This is the same question the British working class had to face when the British empire collapsed.)
Will they organize and work with each other? Make demands? Work for and save themselves as their rulers live in denial (3% of Americans are employers but they more often than not call the shots - which usually means protecting themselves before their poorer workers)?
