part of why capitalism does what it does is that it is out of balance, there is no such thing as too much profit; so the overall system concentrates as many resources as possible to the goal of profit at the expense of stability.

And coupled with profit as an imbalance is the ability to deny costs as externalities.

So what mechanisms are needed to bring this system into a homeostatic relationship with itself; where there are no destructive externalities and where profit is not concentrated to damaging levels ?
