Wood engraving in progress - An Teallach, NW Scotland, a mountain of 540-1,000 million year old Applecross Formation sandstone. The rock on which it and its neighbours stand, Lewisian gneiss, can be up to 4,000 million years old, some of the oldest rocks on Earth.
In December, several days in, I made an irreversible mistake. I have had to sand the block flat, re-polish the face and start again. Fortunately this does not happen too often!
