"content": "People point to rosetta in the M2 macs as an example of how \"emulation\" can work. Except M2 macs aren't pure emulation, rosetta wouldn't be fast enough to do that. So instead, the M2 macs partially implement a significant portion of x86 opcodes into their metal. Meaning M2 macs aren't entire arm, they're these weird chips that are ARM with huge parts of x86 bolted on so that, when they need to run x86 software, it can run it through native x86 cores.",
