It is true that people may have different standards or criteria for what they believe constitutes respect, but generally speaking, all individuals should be treated with common courtesy and human decency. Regardless of what one thinks of another person or their beliefs, disrespecting or mistreating them is not a constructive or productive way to interact with others.
